I just got back from NYC to sit in on the mastering session for the Frodus recordings that I did this summer, and oh, grasshopper, did I learn a couple things:
-Josh Bonati is the best dude and did some BEAST work on the upcoming Frodus Soundlabs seven-inch. I can’t wait to cut some lacquers with him on his new Neumann lathe.

-Thanks to Jason Hamacher, I now love me some post-Wolverine Blues Entombed.
-The new Frodus songs are FUCKING BADASS (even after recording and mixing and listening to them a billion times).

If you haven’t checked this out yet, the RDC is back with a fresh set of kids for 2K9. This track took longer to finish off than previous years, but the track is a burner for real, and it was so fun to make and create this wonderful jam with the kids!
A lot of the samples may be familiar, but here’s the list of bands we used and were inspired by for this year’s track:
Lyn Collins
Deodato
Ponytail
No Age
Mi Ami
Tom Waits
Dirty Projectors

The new site is FINALLY up, with a lot of holes to fill in, and bugs to exterminate. Don’t worry, I’ll get to it!
How bamafied is this?
I’m still at The Barn.
There’s a lot of strange internal things happening at The Barn, but nobody gonna sloww meee down- OH NO. Cause Bad Habit, possibly the finest hardcore punk band in the DC/MD/VA area, just finished their new seven inch, and Attain is gearing up for a MASSIVE release, dropping melodic but depressing metal / hardcore bombs on y’all fools that just seriously don’t know.
Mad shout outs to mastering engineer Josh Bonati (www.bonatimastering.com), who takes care of my clients and makes them sound EVEN MORE AMAZING.
Check out my clients page. Even though I’m not even close to filling this out, it’s looking pretty cool!
Things just ain’t the same for gangstaz- wiredwrists II will soon be moving from Brookeville to Baltimore, most likely, and it’s gonna suck. Where the F_CK am I gonna put all those sh*tty guitar cabinets and drum sets?
It was a GREAT year while it lasted:
Days, Timber, Condemn The Infected, Wino, Ante Up, The Fordists, Trapped Under Ice, Blind The Thief, Thawed Out, Self Abuse, Detox Retox, Power Nap, Maximillian Dunbar, One Step Too Many, Attain, 7th Letter, Control/Broken Bodies. …As well as working on the Wino solo project with J. Robbins.
So that brings us up to the suck- I’m gonna be doing drum engineering out of other studios, which is probably a good thing since their rooms sound much better than mine! I’m just bummed out that I don’t have my own place to mess up. Everything else will be recorded at my place of residence, which will be dubbed wiredwrists III. But it’s gonna be a short stint for wiredwrists III before things get crazy large, warehouse style with engineer Kevin Bernsten. It’s gonna be so real, you don’t even know.
The new setup has been running somewhat smoothly for a bit after a bumpy beginning with some bad ram and an unnecessary erase-and-install. Many Applecare calls and a couple Mac Genius visits later, I’m finally able to run this Pro Tools HD (huge dick?) rig with some nice ass mic pres and compressors and a crackly four-unit patchbay (thanks to Justin and Hans and GC). Blind The Thief was the first band to rock this shit, and they sounded great with their new lineup and sound.
Bands I done been workin with:
Jeremy (solo stuff, mems. Coke Bust)
The Max Levine Ensemble
Blind The Thief
(some band I helped engineer with Jason Cadell)
Today and Everything After
Paint It Black (at Magpie Cage w/ J. Robbins)
Sylvie (at Magpie Cage w/ J. Robbins)
Rahim (at Magpie Cage w/ J. Robbins)
Sono Vivo
Killing The Dream (at Magpie Cage w/ J. Robbins)
Days
Blackie Knight and the Daylights
Jefferson Third
Report Suspicious Activity (at Magpie Cage w/ J. Robbins)
Coke Bust
Modern Life Is War (at Magpie Cage w/ J. Robbins)
Trapped Under Ice
Avec
I think I’m missing some, but I’ll remember when I get home.
